Here Shankara is talking about Vishudhi chakra. O, Devi! I meditate in your vishudhi chakra on Shiva and Devi. Devi is equal to Shiva in all respects. That akasha created by Shakti is like a pure crystal that can be extracted by the radiance emanating from Shiva-Shakti. The universe enveloped in the darkness of ignorance rejoices in the spatika in the moonlight. Moonlight represents rejoice. It is like Chakori( bird), It takes bath in the moonlight, which indicates the perfect blending of Shakti and Shiva. Vileena. They become one, bhashyakara compares this to milk and water. Once mixed we cannot separate milk and water. When this perfect blend is there, milk and water are believed the only hamsa that can only take the milk and leave the water. Hamsa is not a bird here. He alone is called Paramahamsa, one who attains the hamsa’s excellence and can experience these two tattvas though they are blended inseparably. Whether hamsa takes only milk or water, the truth is that the sadhaka who has achieved the state of these two tattvas is known as Paramahamsa. All of us should achieve it. Paramahamsa is a state of the sadhaka.
In this mantra, Shankara bagavadpada explains Shakti the cosmic energy in total union with Shiva enters the plane of vishudhi from Ajna. There are already there. They descent vishudhi. The akasha tattva is vishudhi. The proper understanding is that in vishudhi where all-pervading akasha emerges while descending with Shiva. That akasha shines more brightly because it is rejuvenated by the effulgence of Devi’s body. The Kanti is not Soundarya, Kanti is not the body. It is the effulgence of Devi’s body. The Devi’s body is oozing amrutha. How the nectar is oozing from the body? It is from the union of Shiva. And this happens in the total union of Shiva. We got to experience the akasha. We need to experience the knowledge of the Gyana. Shankara bhagavadpada has put in the words of his experience. The cosmic consciousness and cosmic energy descending from Vishudhi are rejuvenating the radiance from Devi. Akasha the space is undifferentiated matter. It is indivisible but akasha contains all the ingredients of creation. The ingredients of creations are panchamahabhutas, akasha is yet to evolve into building blocks of the matter. This undifferentiated akasha is pure, when purity comes the only analogy is Spatika ( Crystal). It has emanated directly from Devi’s body which is equal to the body of consciousness Shiva. The cosmic energy and cosmic consciousness being one with grace at the Vishudhi in their effulgence. This is happening in vishudhi. When they light up, and when antahpragna lightens it expels the agnana and gyana( knowledge) comes in. Gyana has meaning beyond knowledge. Gayna is not the knowledge, it becomes full only when we experience it. Together we are trying to put our efforts to experience our gyana. This verse provides about the quality of the radiance of Shiva and shakti at this level. The first is “Shuda spatika vishadam”. clear as pure crystal. the second is “Shashi Kirana sarupya sarane”: a  pure crystal that resembles the moonlight. The poetic imagery of the Chakori bird highlights this state. Chakori bird lives on moonlight waiting for drops of nectar that may fall in. Once the divine nectar falls on us it takes away the dark cloud that falls on us. Meditation in this manner, we expel the darkness of the mind. With this note, we should start meditating on the Vishudhi chakra.

Chanting procedure and Nivedyam( offerings to the Lord) :
If one chants this verse 5000 times each day for 45 days, offering, payasam, fruits, coconut and
dhal(urad) vada as prasadam, it is said that one would be able
to get rid of all evils.
