In Lalithasahasranama we come across this mantra ” Kameswara premaratna mani pratipanastani, Naabhyaalawaala romaali lataa phalakuchadwayi/ Lakshya romalataa dhaarataa samunneya Madhyamaa, Stanabhaara dalan madhya pattabandha valitrayee/”.

Three petals are very common. That is the characteristic of bilva patra, Here and there we will see four and five petals.

This nama talks about the power of a fraction of a second’s glance. That side glance gets so much. There is a difference between direct glance and side glance. What is the difference? Her side glance us enough to shower on us the physical, mental and material wealth which we always want, crave for it. But direct glance offers liberation. This is the difference. Shakara  is talking about this erotic discription.

“Kataksha kinkari bhutha kamala koti sevitha”

Just her glance sideways as mentioned in this mantra also, millions of lakshmi’s attend to her.Her side glance gives material wealth and pleasures. This is the communication we are getting here. The Devi is not outside ourselves. Those who really understand the Devi know her as the Great Maya – Mahamaya. Maya is this universe, the “ocean of change and becoming”.There is no inside nor outside to the eternal self. The old man is regaining his youthfulness. Though this mantra very erotically presented a guyana, sadhaka or jeevan muktha would not have composed merely for erotic experince. The old man on whom Devi’s side glance was fallen gets spiritual enlightenment. The women who are described running behind him are pashus. They are not enlightened souls. These pashus go after enlightened souls to attain liberation under his guidance. In their urgency and eagerness to know, they forget everything about the material world. When we have eagerness to realize her, we don’t want to forget material wealth. We are made to get detachment from that. They are not aware of what happens to them .

This mantra also conveys when sadhaka is ready for liberation, one should be always ready. We are misguided to leave this to attain liberation. When the sadhaka is ready, devi sends a guru to teach the disciple to guide him through liberation. It is always said when the time is ripe, one gets a guru without any effort. If time is right it is her responsibility to get a guru without any efforts. She is waiting to offer liberation to all her children. She is the mother who is willing to get us the best education, a universal mother. She is Sri Mata. Mother sends the guru at appropriate time. The mother of the universe wants to give us best. And the best os liberation. By composing such an erotic mantra Sahkara has a reson to send a clear message to youngsters. Spend some time thinking about divine mother. She will give true spiritual gurus. We do spend all the 24hrs however we want, but we do need to spend a few moments in a day to visualize her in meditation and assure them that she will give the best. She knows what she needs to give. There will be a transformation that will happen. Our mother is always compassionate to us. By her side glance she can give whatever we want.

Chanting procedure and Nivedyam( offerings to the Lord) : If one chants this verse 1000 times every day for 6 days, and offers Trimadhuram or rice as nivedhyam ,it is said that one can attain victory in love.
